Blanchet almost lets big lead vanish in fourth quarter | statesmanjournal.com | Statesman Journal

PENDLETON — In a contest between two of the highest-scoring teams in the OSAA Class 2A basketball state tournament, second-ranked Blanchet came out on top Thursday. The Cavaliers held on for the victory as junior forward Grayson Francke (10 points) and junior guard Nick Johnson (5 points) each hit two free throws after the Knights fouled intentionally to stop the clock.

"It sure felt really great to sink two huge free throws late in the game to help us pull out a big win," said Francke, whose free throws gave Blanchet a 57-53 lead with 30.4 seconds left.

"We were struggling throughout the fourth quarter, and it was a pretty noisy crowd here. I knew that I just had to relax and knock those down. It feels pretty special to do that in an incredible atmosphere here in Pendleton."

Grayson Michael Francke (Kevin Francke and Liz Godlove’s son) has become quite the athlete excelling in both football and basketball. Kind of weird when you think about it, but had Michael Francke never been murdered, Grayson would never have been born. Probably the only positive to come out of the Francke murder.
